I have not been successful in keeping my finances in check due to some unfortunate events. I think I will need to file for bankruptcy and am terrified that I will lose my mortgage and house in the process.

Hi there and thank you for reaching out to the Canadalend team with your inquiry.

If you have filed for bankruptcy in Canada, you won't necessarily lose your home --No.

Often times you can make arrangements with your mortgage lender to ensure you do not lose your home. Ensuring you keep up with the payments is essential in this process.
